Case of the Month

21yo male presents to the Emergency Department complaining of chest pain. Otherwise healthy and without any significant personal or family history, the chest pain is described as a “I don’t really know how to describe it.” He is taken for an EKG upon ED arrival per departmental protocols and then taken to the Fast Track area for further evaluation.

HR 84, RR 14, BP 118/69, T 36C

The Fast Track physician palpates the chest to find reproducible pain clearly on exam. The patient receives ketorolac and is discharged.

The Emergency Physician forgets to review the EKG until later in his shift when he decides to call the patient back…but cannot get a hold of them. Should the physician be worried?
